DESCRIPTION

In a handsome full morocco binding by George Robertson, with binder's stamp to front pastedown.

With a folding map of East Central Africa and nine monochrome illustrations as called for. Lacking publisher's advertisements.

Henry Drummond was a Scottish evangelist, biologist, writer and lecturer. Drummond took up a position with the African Lakes Corporation, which was set up by Scottish businessmen to cooperate with Presbyterian missions in Malawi. The company had commercial and political ambitions including a number of general stores and the transportation of water transport from the lakes and rivers.

Tropical Africa is an account of Drummond's time in Africa and includes discussion regarding his work for the African Lakes Corporation as well as political, geographical and medical aspects of the country.


CONDITION

In a full morocco binding. Externally very smart with slight rubbing to the extremities and the joints. A few light marks to the boards. Prize bookplate from Wesley College, Melbourne to front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot and handling marks. Folding map is generally smart with a closed tear, approximately two and a half inches in length.
