You'll be glad that you paid extra now as it will save you both time and money in the future.

This size of metal gutter repair bracket is to fit the 5" (125m) common half round cast iron gutter profile.  Other sizes are available by clicking the SHOP link.  (Also, see attached guide image relating to gutter sizing).

It is important to note that cast iron guttering is measured across the inside of the profile. You need to factor in the thickness of the cast iron and also note that the bracket has to fit on the outside of this. What this means is that the bracket will be larger than the internal guttering size by as much as 10-15mm.

If you are looking to support your guttering without having to take it all down then this gutter repair bracket is the one for you. It is designed to fix to the fascia and support your existing rainwater goods from below. For cast iron guttering, it would be good practice to have a bracket every 900mm (3') or wherever the guttering is sagging.

The arm length is approximately 120mm and has two fixing points located below the cup.  This is a high quality UK manufactured gutter repair bracket which is produced from a 5mm x 20mm, 316 stainless steel material providing unrivaled longevity and excellent strength in all weather.

If you are reading this then there is a good chance that your existing brackets have or are coming to the end of their life.  This potentially leaves you with the tricky task of removing the existing guttering and brackets, having to fit replacements and restoring the guttering.  It can be an arduous task and one that most people would only like to do once.  With a mild steel bracket, you are entirely reliant on the protective coating to stop it rusting and so annual maintenance is essential.  Any damage will need to be treated and the brackets potentially re-painted to provide protection for the coming year.  It is a constant battle against the elements to ensure that the bracket can retain its structural integrity and hold up your guttering.  This is particularly important for cast iron guttering where the weight is significantly more than modern materials.

If you factor in the hours spent removing, preparing, repainting, re-fitting and also the cost of the new paint; the price of a stainless steel alternative might not seem so high after all.

There can be no denying that the initial outlay for a stainless steel gutter bracket is much higher than a standard steel bracket but that should not put you off choosing them for your project.  Marine grade 316L stainless steel gutter brackets do not suffer uniform corrosion in the same way as mild steel versions will, when exposed to wet environments.  The combination of air and moisture will readily rust standard metal brackets.  For gutter brackets, stainless steel is an ideal corrosion-resistant material and definitely advisable in areas which are exposed to the harsh British elements, especially around the coast.
