"When the Royal Library in Copenhagen acquired Lazarus Goldschmidt's famous collection of Hebraic Literature it also accepted responsibility for the publication of a manuscript of his which he had with him. It is this manuscript which forms the basis of the present work....[Goldschmidt} intended the concordance to form the tenth volume of his own great edition and translation of the Talmud, but at the same time it was designed for use with any other edition of the Talmud. Goldschmidt did not live to see his concordance in print." (from the preface by the editor, ).
