It is important to note that cast iron guttering is measured across the inside of the profile. You need to factor in the thickness of the cast iron and also note that the bracket has to fit on the outside of this. What this means is that the bracket will be larger than the internal guttering size by as much as 10-15mm.

I do get asked about using these brackets on plastic and I have shown a couple of images showing the 4" (100mm) bracket on a 112.5mm plastic gutter. This offers a better fit than the 4.5" (115mm) version which is oversized to take a cast iron gutter.
