Superb Solid Sterling Silver Large & Heavy Basting / Stuffing Spoon.

Here we have a George lll, fine quality solid silver basting / gravy or hash spoon assayed in 1818, making this a 204 year old. 

           Fully Hallmarked in London and made by William Bateman, Very collectable from the renowned English Family of Silversmiths 

 

Hallmarks are clearly stamped on the back handle and read : Makers mark WB William Bateman : Duty Stamp : date letter C : Crowned Leopard Head : Lion Passant. All hallmarks are clear, deep and easily readable.

 The quality of this large spoon is excellent as you would expect from such a renowned silversmith, wonderful thick gauge silver used in its construction, beautifully shaped and this spoon still retains a stunning shine / Gleam of solid silver.

There is an Initial engraved on the spoons handle in old english script, I believe its an H or could be a very elaborate FC, Please check it out in the photos.

Condition 

Excellent Condition, No dents, dints or nasty scratches. Light general wear only, surface scratched commensurate with age, handle is free from any buckles or twists and the spoon bowl has no narrowing / thinning on the edges of the bowls silver. 

An excellent piece of 204 year old antique silver, ready for display or work.
