Antique German Conta & Boehme Porcelain Match Striker Girl Making Curtsy #4232 c.1890s

: Presented is a beautiful porcelain statue/figurine made in Germany by the factory of Conta and Boehme in around the 1890s -1900.

The Conta and Boehme factory can be traced to the year of 1814 when Albert Wilhelm Ernst Conta and Christian Gottlieb Boehme purchased a small porcelain factory in the town of Poessneck. By the second half of the 1800s the factory was producing many small household porcelain items: dolls, figurines, trays, boxes, inkwells, and also matchboxes with matchstrikers that became an important collectible objects.

I am starting to post a small collection of Conte and Boehme match strikers. This one is a beautiful figurine with a box for matches and a striker plate. The matchbox is made in the form of a well with a girl making curtsy.  Marked with Conta and Boehme impressed shield mark and the model number 4232.

Please note - this matchstriker is a matching pair with model #4231 - boy playing violin. I have it for sale as well - please check my auctions.

It is a nicely crafted artistic representation of late 19th century young children with wonderful details and handpainted.

The match striker is in excellent condition with no losses or repairs.

It is 4.5
" tall, 2.5" wide.

Condition: Excellent Year: 1890s
