The MP2403 replaces the now obsolete MP1584 on its original PCB, it has a higher efficiency but instead of a variable frequency ranging from 100K-2MHz the MP2403 is fixed at 250KHz. With the exception of a 0.1V increase in minimum input voltage, all specifications are superior and it is a direct drop in replacement for the previous board.

The MP2403 is a monolithic synchronous buck
regulator. The device integrates a 150mΩ
high-side MOSFET and an 80mΩ low-side
MOSFET that provides 3A continuous load
current over a wide operating input voltage of
4.6V to 32V. Current mode control provides fast

transient response and cycle-by-cycle current

limit.
An adjustable soft-start prevents inrush current
at turn-on. In shutdown mode, the supply

current drops to 1μA.
