Note: The grains are packed in food quality BPA free bags (until an alternative to plastic becomes available) and are grown with organically certified products, sourced from within Australia as far as possible.

What is water Kefir?

Water Kefir is a delicious fermented sugar-water beverage with low GI loaded with live cultures. To this date, the real origins remain unknown and attempts to manufacture it in science labs have failed. This makes it a REAL food that cannot be artificially produced.

It comprises of 30+ beneficial bacteria and yeast strains (please see below for a list of some of them) which help stimulate and regulate your immune system and digestion. This cannot be matched by commercial yoghurts and probiotic supplements which on average have a lot less strains.

Water kefir is fermented at room temperature for about 48 hours. A sugar water mix is used to grow water grains. Water kefir contains different probiotic strains to milk kefir. It has many wonderful health benefits, a great flavor and is a great alternative to milk kefir for vegans, vegetarians or those who cannot tolerate dairy. It's simple to make, has a large spectrum of probiotics and the grains live for as long as you take care of them unlike yogurt cultures which weakens in each successive batch.
