Older Style Metabo drills do not have a nut installed in the handle.  We include a nut in case you need it.  It needs to be installed here:

Best way to install nut: Get it started without the bit holder, just use the screw and the nut.  Fully tighten without bit holder to get the nut seated all the way in the nut catch.  Remove screw and install bit holder or belt clip.
