CYPERUS PAPYRUS - PAPYRUS

This very famous plant due to its history associated mainly with the Egyptian culture, where it was used for making paper, but also highly valued as an edible plant (rhizome and stems), medicinal and ornamental. It is native to the African continent, but today it can be found in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Its natural habitat is swamps and wetlands along the banks of rivers. It forms a rhizome that forms a cluster of angular sprouts, beautifully topped with tufts of very thin, shiny green leaves, similar in appearance to a feather brush and inflorescences with brown-green clusters of flowers followed by brown nut fruits.
