Description

A Hall of Fame cup of coffee with the New York Mets. After a legendary career with the New York Yankees that saw him appear in 14 World Series in 18 years, Yogi Berra was fired one day after a heartbreaking loss in the seventh game of the 1964 World Series. A few months later, he was resurrected with the crosstown rival New York Mets where he mustered up two hits in last nine at-bats before calling it a career as a player on May 11, 1965 when he announced his retirement as a player to become a full-time coach for the Mets.

This one-of-a-kind piece of baseball history issued by the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club, Inc (METS) features a "Notice to Player of Release or Transfer" dated May 17, 1965 unconditionally releasing Berra as a player of the New York Mets.
