Contents include stories such as 'The History of the Fisherman', 'The History of Sinbad the Sailor', 'The Three Apples', 'The History of the Barber', and 'The Story of the Sleeper Awakened'.

Revised and edited by Henry William Dulcken (1832-1894), an English translator and children's writer who is best known for translating the stories of Hans Christian Andersen. Many of his works were illustrated by the Brothers Dalziel.

They worked with many important Victorian Artists, including John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, helping to illustrated works such as Edward Lear's 'Book of Nonsense' and Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland'.
