This plant is not ideal for shrimp tanks. All egeria/elodia sold in UK is imported from Asia and treated against pests. They are all rinsed and totally safe for fish but may be harmful to shrimps and snails.
Thoroughly Rinse: Rinse under running water to wash off any traces of treatments.
Test Cautiously: Introduce a single stem to the tank and watch shrimp closely. If they act abnormally or swim erratically, remove the plant and place it in dechlorinated water for 48 hours.
Repeat the Process: After soaking, rinse again and re-test. Only add more if the shrimp show no adverse reactions.
Extended Soaking: Soak the plant for at least a week, rinsing it daily to eliminate any lingering fertiliser residues.
