Illustrations include a range of full-page and in-text illustrations by Harold Jones.

This is a children's novel by M. E. Atkinson, in which the Lockett children go north to the Scottish border for the holidays and end up having a grand adventure. This book follows previous novels following the Lockett family, such as 'Mystery Manor' and 'August Adventure'.

M. E. Atkinson (1899-1974) was an English children's' writer. Her most popular series was the Lockett series, for which she wrote a total of fourteen books. She also wrote a few one-act plays and the Fricka series.

CONDITION

In the original cloth binding, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Some marks to boards with some fading and discolouration particularly to the top edge of the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of spine. Dust wrapper is generally smart, with age-toning to the fly-leaves and the reverse. Minimal edgewear, but a bit of chipping to the spine region of text. Loss to the bottom edge of the spine region, with some age-discolouration to spine region, including on the reverse. Internally, firmly bound, with binding loosening towards the middle of text. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with age-toning to margins and the odd spot throughout. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the first few front endpapers.
