The Afros was an American hip hop group from New York City, USA. The group consisted of rappers Hurricane (Wendell Timothy Fite), Kool Tee (Tadone Hill) & DJ Kippy-O (Kip Morgan). The Afros were affiliated with Run-D.M.C. through Jam Master Jay, who after watching the film Hollywood Shuffle (‘87) with Hurricane, created the concept of The Afros. The group's name was a reference to Afro-Americans & they wore afro wigs that they believed represented black power. They appeared in the ‘89 Run-D.M.C. music video for "Pause". Their only studio album Kickin' Afrolistics, was released in ‘90. The Afros had started to record a 2nd album; however, it was never released & they disbanded.
