It's powered by one AAA battery. It's the same model as the group head thermometer but with a portafilter sensor
instead of the group head sensor.

The thermometer measures the actual water extraction temperature inside the portafilter during the espresso shot. The sensor is placed just above the coffee puck before locking in the portafilter (see photo and video).
It's just below the shower screen.

IMPORTANT: don't use puck screen, it may damage the sensor.
Place the sensor on the right side of the portafilter fin. (left side if you use for example an Elektra Microcasa which has opposite locking direction.)

The sensor was made at first for La Pavoni levers but it can be used also for all espresso coffee machines with
a standard portafilter.

Note: be careful to position the sensor in the correct way. Follow photos and video instructions.

The main purpose of this thermometer design is to measure actual brew water temperature: it has a special long thin film sensor that can be placed on top of the coffee before locking the portafilter into the group. During the extraction, it will measure the water temperature between the coffee and the shower screen, without leaking water because it's extremely thin.
