Vintage 1964-65 Worlds Fair Enameled Unisphere (US Steel )Souvenir Tray

Description

The Unisphere was the symbol of the 1964-65 Worlds Fair in New York.  It was made from Stainless Steel and was 12 stories high.  It is a model of the earth designed, built and presented to the fair by US Steel when steel was king in the United States.  It was dedicated to "Peace through Understanding".  The construction was done by the American Bridge Company, a division of US Steel.  The Unisphere has gone through a couple of restorations, the last in the early 2000's. You can still visit it in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, NY.

The Tray is copper toned metal with blue enamel background, a red shield and white roses.  It comes with a little display stand made of plastic which is not original.  It also has a little ring on the back to hang on the wall.  It is in good shape but has some wear on the blue enamel.  A great Worlds Fair souvenir.
