LE CARRÉ SPY NOVEL SET IN TODAY'S TENSE TIMES

THIS WAS THE FINAL NOVEL BY THE MASTER OF SPY THRILLERS - JOHN le CARRÉ.  There has been no greater writer of espionage tales than Le Carré (real name David Cornwell) who died in 2020, a year after this novel was published.  Many of his books were set in the Cold War and its aftermath including his most famous work - The Spy Who Came In From the Cold - which, incidentally, is routinely listed as one of the best spy novels ever written.

This tale, Agent Running in The Field, is set in more modern times - 2018 - but still has in its background the tensions between East and West.  It involves a veteran of the British Secret Intelligence Service and an operation relating to Moscow Centre.  Prominent political personalities like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump get a mention and Brexit (Britain's withdrawal from the European Union) is an issue too. 

LIKE ALL LE CARRÉ NOVELS, THIS ONE CRACKLES WITH SUSPENSE and subdued menace.  The author wrote with deep knowledge of his subject.  He had the top-level British educational background that many of his nation's agents enjoyed - and he worked for both the British Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6).

The book we offer is in excellent condition.  It has been read perhaps once and it is quite unblemished with clean and crisp pages, an intact dust-jacket and no sign of previous ownership.  The hardcover corners have not been bumped.  It is a nice book.
