c.1920 Hand-Autographed Photo
Betty Compson
Silent Movie Beauty
From online sources: "Betty Compson [not to be confused with Betty Compton] (born Eleanor Luicime Compson; March 19,
1897 – April 18, 1974) was an American actress and film producer who got
her start during Hollywood's silent era. She is best known for her
performances in The Docks of New York and The Barker, the latter of which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress."
This approx. 5" x 7" photo is hand-signed in dark blue fountain pen: "Yours Sincerely, Betty Compson." There is also a small blot of the same dark blue fountain pen ink on the reverse side of the photo. (See final picture.)
The photo also bears the name of the studio: "Edward Mayer Monroe N.Y."
CONDITION: No issues to mention. Lovely vintage condition, from a non-smoking environment.
ABOUT THE AUTOGRAPH: This piece came with no COA or other authentication paperwork. It was purchased at an auction that included numerous items from the estate of an autograph collector. The various pieces had different levels of authentication. From my personal examination, I am convinced that it is an authentic piece hand-signed by this actress in fountain pen. But please understand that you are buying a piece with no third-party authentication.
The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep
in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we
all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please
expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.
