Any new build, new to you, end of season, beginning I'd season engine should be tested for leaks to dnsure the seals and gaskets are good. An air leak will cause the engine to run lean and fry the top end.

Pull carb off

Insert Leak Testerinto the intake boot

Bolt exhaust block off plate on

Hand pump to 6 psi

Should hold 6 psi for 15 minutes

If it looses pressure, use warm soapy water to spray around and find leak.
