Hand Painted Bamboo Rainstick

   These beautiful rain sticks are made in Bali, Indonesia. With varied designs and sizes they're hand carved by skilled craftsmen and then decorated with 'Aboriginal style' painting or traditional burnt design with a varnished finish. The ends are hand wrapped with rattan.

A rain stick is a long, hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles or beans that has small pins or thorns arranged helically on its inside surface. When the stick is turned, the pebbles fall to the other end of the tube, making a sound reminiscent of rain falling. The rain stick is believed to have been invented by the Mapuches and was played in the belief it could bring about rainstorms. Rain sticks are traditionally made from any of several species of cacti, but in Asia bamboo is a great alternative.

For domestic postage we use a range of couriers for our standard free posting option. Royal Mail 1^st class, next-day delivery and Parcelforce 24 are available for an additional fee.
