All plants are grown on the nursery in Kent in 2L pots, strong, well established and ready for immediate outdoor planting.

Excellent for a bushy native hedge.

Fagus sylvatica - Green Beech is a native plant which needs space as it grows to form a tall wide spreading tree. The young leaves are light green turning to a copper colour in the autumn. A deciduous, spreading, well branched native tree which can sometimes retain its coppery leaves through the winter.  Needs a well drained soil and will grow well on chalky soils. Mostly used for hedging forming an excellent hedge.

Suggested planting distances to form a hedge plant in a single row 3 plants per metre approx. 30cm or 1 foot apart. Plants can be planted further apart up to 60cm or 2 feet but it will take longer for the hedge to establish.

N.B. Unlike some suppliers all our plants are measured from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant (i.e. height of plant excludes roots and pot).

All our plants are grown hard on the nursery in Kent either in cold poly tunnels or outside during all weather conditions. They are grown as naturally and as organically as possible not using any harsh chemicals. This helps us encourage wild life on the nursery and lets the plants grow as they would do in the garden. 

So all our plants are subject to seasonal conditions and changes throughout the year. Therefore they may not always look or be as pristine as the picture shows usually taken in the growing season (Spring/Summer) when they have new growth. 

Deciduous and semi evergreen plants during the dormant season (Autumn/Winter) will loose there leaves shooting new growth in the spring.

If we anticipate a longer delivery time we will contact you.  WE DO NOT send out plants when the weather is either too hot or cold for the safe dispatch of plants. 

Buyers are more than welcome to come and collect their purchases from our Nursery at Marden in Kent, where we stock over 250,000 trees and shrubs.
