This listing is for an absolutely gorgeous (and rare) chocolate calcite freeform from the Himalayas. This specimen is absolutely amazing as it is covered in magical. crystal filled cavities filled with white aragonite crystals. Chocolate calcite is a rare and exciting mineral which is found in the Afghanistan and Pakistan Himalayas. This stunning calcite is still very rare in the West but we think it is destined to become extremely popular in the same way that Caribbean Calcite did in recently. We have managed to secure a deal with local Himalayan dealers and at the time of writing, we are the only major UK suppliers of this wonderful calcite. Chocolate calcite shows beautiful dark brown and light brown or tan banding and patterns. This superb chocolate calcite freeform comes from the Himalayan region of Balochistan, Pakistan.
Chocolate calcite is very tactile and may have natural crystal cavities / matrix/ unpolished areas which is a big part of the charm of this mineral. A LITTLE INFORMATION ABOUT CHOCOLATE CALCITE:
Chocolate calcite is a rare and exciting mineral which is found in the Afghanistan and Pakistan Himalayas.This stunning calcite is still very rare in the West but we think it is destined to become extremely popular in the same way that caribbean calcite did in recently. Chocolate calcite shows beautiful dark brown and light brown or tan banding and patterns. Recently, the finest quality chocolate calcite comes from the Himalayan region of Balochistan, Pakistan. Chocolate calcite is very tactile and may have natural pitting / matrix/ unpolished areas which is a big part of the charm of this mineral. It is relatively expensive because, to date, this is the only known source. Clearly the name has been chosen to describe the lovely 'chocolate fudge cake banding' colour, which makes it look almost good enough to eat !!. There are often cracks and holes filled with lovely druzy material.
Chocolate Calcite is a one time find and our guess is that it will be mined to extinction within a few years. Simply because of the colour and minerals within, many miners and crafters will have a high yield on investment. This will cause a flooding in the market, followed by a permanent drought unless more deposits are found. We can only hope that the local miners mine this mineral responsibly and don’t allow greed or profit to take over!
