One of the most long neglected subjects in the PANZERBLITZ PANZER LEADER system has been reconnaissance units.
For sure over the years players have introduced variant counters for the different recon vehicles (some with two or three different sets of counter values) and then proceed to misuse them in ways that the original armies never intended.
In the PANZERBLITZ Campaign book and the PANZER LEADER Rules book the recon formations listed in the respective Unit Composition Tables can best be described as generic. This changed in the PANZERBLITZ and PANZER LEADER Special Issues where recon formations were described in much greater detail. This was especially true for the Western Allies.
However since then more information has come up for the German, and to a lesser extent Russian, recon units. Thus was borne this article to properly address the subject of reconnaissance units.
