As Carp anglers ourselves we've been tying carp rigs for over 10 years and decided to utilise that experience by creating Ready Tied Carp Rigs for other anglers on a Full Time basis.

The Combi Rig is very versatile and gives the carp something else to think about. It has accounted for many carp in the UK and abroad.
They always find it extremely hard to eject due to the supple and stiff combination of the boom and braid loop section. This definitely catches the carp out more often than not and will get you more fish on the bank.

As the rig is so versatile it can be used all year round and cast onto most lakebeds with excellent presentation. (If you want to use it amongst weed we recommend using a Heli Leader setup). As far as hookbaits go, the list is vast.  You can use fake baits such as corn, maize, tigernuts, etc, bottom baits, wafters or a popup with some real or fake maggots (a deadly winter tactic).  If you want to go even further you can drill out boilies, tigernuts, wafters etc and insert some cork to create your own unique hookbaits.  

Danny Fairbrass has used this rig to great effect using a variety of hookbaits from fake corn to IB popups. The Korda Masterclass series highlighted how effective this rig can be and no doubt will catch you loads of carp on your water.

We make this rig exactly as per Danny's specification and not with shrink tubing/silicone tubing etc trapping the hair to the shank. Any rigs created that way will give this rig the incorrect rig mechanics and make it less effective and likely to tangle.

This rig will be a mainstay in many anglers' armoury and is without doubt a lethal rig when presented in the right spot.

An added bonus with this rig is that the hook section is simply loop to looped onto the boom section so you can replace a damaged hook with another loop section, add some putty to balance and you're fishing again.  The booms will last ages so you do not need to throw the whole rig away.

To get the best performance from the Combi Rig you should use Popups, Wafters and bottom baits.


Rig breakdown:

This particular rig comes with a Curved Hook pattern:-

Curve Shank - The perfect hook pattern for this rig. The curve of the shank and added tubing kicker leaves the hook sitting at an aggressive angle and primed to prick the bottom lip.
The hooks are Teflon coated and anti glare. Available in sizes 4,6,8 in either Micro Barb or Barbless (we do not crush barbs or modify in any way)

The CAMO FLECK boom section is made with a stiff material to kick the bait away from the lead and also give excellent anti tangle and reset properties. The hook section is attached with a stiff braid that gives the hook plenty of movement. The rig mechanics then allow the hook to be picked up from any angle and instantly flip to allow the hook to take hold.
We have a few different Amnesia boom colours available for this rig from Clear, Silt to our new Camo Fleck Boom. Amnesia is believed to be better that Korda Boom by many anglers. As the boom is memory free you don't need steam to straighten it out if it gets kinked after landing a fish. Simply pull on each end with a rig puller tool a few times and it will straighten in seconds. Different lengths of the boom are available.

For attaching your hookbait there are various bait attachment options available such as a Hair, metal bait screws, rig rings, micro swivels etc which allow you to mount the bait in your preferred method.

For terminating the rig there are the options of either having a loop which can be attached to quick change swivels (lead clip or helicopter setups) a size 8 swivel or flexi swivel which is compatible with most lead clip systems.

The rig is Crimped, Krimped at both ends using 0.6mm x 5mm Double Barrel crimps - krimps which adds extra strength and neatness. (We do not use single barrel crimps which can slip or even snap boom materials).

TIPS:- If you're using a popup you may need to add a bit of rig putty around the crimp to balance correctly. The buoyancy of a popup will vary depending on the brand and size so it's always worth testing your rig in the margin or a tub before casting.  Ideally you want the rig to fall slowly through the water so it will sit on top of any debris or silt that may be on the lakebed.
