Antique S.F. & Co. S Fielding Dresden Pitcher Jug England

I am not familiar with this item.  From the hole and notch at the top it looks as if it may have had a lid at one time?   The item does show signs of age and wear and tear.   It does have some crazing.

It stands approximately 7 inches tall.
