We realized years ago that you can't buy a game, but you can buy a lesson.
You can buy a $199 wedge and hit it just as poorly as a $29.95 wedge, or, you can buy several lessons for the difference in price. The components used to manufacture the $199 wedge are hardly superior enough to support the prices the major brands charge.
One for the record books
Many years ago, a PGA Professional called to tell us about an experience with our clubs. He had loaned his professional set to a member of his club, hoping to sell the member a brand new set of brand name clubs. The pro was asked to play that same afternoon and had no clubs. He decided to play with a 7 piece rental set (Driver, 3 Wood, 3,5,7,9, Ptr) we had sold him for around $49. His call was to inform us that he had just played 18 holes using our rental set and had carded his "lifetime low score".
