Whether a collector of VINTAGE CLOTHING or just love ANTIQUE BUCKLES or lady's accessory items, this wonderful and SUPERB SET would absolutely THRILL the most
advanced collector, as they are unusually unique in their GRAND SIZE-----we have never seen a pair quite like these!
The buckles are most likely from the EDWARDIAN ERA, made of embossed ORMOLU BRASS with a fancy raised BERRY LEAF design, measuring an IMPRESSIVE 5 3/4" wide and 4 1/2" tall! They are from France, most likely offered by a PARIS BOUTIQUE or more upscale department store, and their novelty LARGE SIZE makes us believe they were worn as a fashionable sash or BELT BUCKLE----can you imagine the HAUTE COUTURE statement they would make in Edwardian times?
The buckles come with their original antique French PRESENTATION CARD marked "NOUVEAUTE" in gold script, complimented by a gilded fancy border along the card edges! The card measures 10" tall by 7" wide and has remnants of the original white stringing that would have held the buckles in place when originally sold but have long ago become detached from the card. The card has seen better days as there are pieces of the cardboard paper missing at the top corners and sides, as well as general wear, but it appears to be original to the buckles so we will include this original piece of provenance in this offering! The buckles themselves are in EXCELLENT CONDITION, with a small oxidation spot on the front side of one of the buckles, and spots on the back where the bars were originally soldered; what an EXQUISITE DISPLAY this pair would make on an Edwardian Lady's BOUDOIR TABLE!This SPECTACULAR PAIR OF HUGE OVAL ANTIQUE FRENCH LADY'S ORMOLU BUCKLES WITH ORIGINAL NOUVEAUTE CARD is being offered with NO RESERVE and a special "BUY IT NOW!" price for your buying consideration----------an impressive and UNIQUE ACCESSORY!
