Bonnie Owens (Oct 1, 1929-Apr 24, 2006) was an American country music singer who was married to Buck Owens & later Merle Haggard. Bonnie met Owens when she was only 15. They played in a band in Arizona, married in '48 & moved to California by '51 which jump-started both their music careers.They later divorced. Bonnie released numerous singles during the ‘50s-early ‘60s & her 1st album Don't Take Advantage of Me in '65. Country Chart hits included the songs Why Don't Daddy Live Here Anymore?, & Don't Take Advantage of Me. In ‘65, Haggard & Bonnie recorded the duet & her best-known hit, Just Between the Two of Us. Named Female Vocalist of the Year in '65 by the Academy of Country Music, she also married Haggard the same year. She then dedicated her time to their children & his career, touring with his band The Strangers as a backup vocalist. Divorcing in '78, after a brief hiatus she resumed touring with him. In 2006, Bonnie Owens died at the age of 76, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
