DESCRIPTION
Sir Robert Sibbald was a Scottish antiquary and physician. The first professor of medicine at the University of Edinburgh, he served as Physician to the King and Geographer Royal. He also performed studies of whales, providing the first scientific description of the blue whale.

CONDITION
In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding complete with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart, with just slight bumping to the extremities. Dust wrapper is slightly chipped to the head of the spine, with a few marks and spots to the boards, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Ownership inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
