DESCRIPTION

A fascinating work on zoology and natural science, originally published anonymously but determined to be written by English botanist and naturalist John Leonard Knapp.

The third edition of this work.

This was Bristol-based zoologist L. Harrison Matthews's personal copy, and his signature can be found to the front free-endpaper.

Illustrated, with a folding frontispiece and ten plates. Collated, complete.

This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.

CONDITION

In full cloth binding with the original paper spine label attached to the spine. Externally, bumping to the extremities. Rear joint has failed and cloth to the spine is lifting. Internally, binding is loosening in places, but is firm. Spotting to the plates and the odd spot to the pages.

Overall Condition: Good Only
