Description

FUJIMI  real sports car series RS-5 1/24 Shelby American, Inc. Cobra 427 S/C

About Car

Activated in the 60's race scene, the famous car AC Cobra is one of the most popular sports cars.

It was based on AC Ace equipped with inline six cylinders supplied by Bristol Cars.  Since Bristol Cars stopped engine production in the 1960s, American Racer "Carroll Shelby" brought the engine of the Ford's 260 cubic inches (4.2 liters) V8, and in 1962  "British-American collaboration Cobra" was born.

AC cobra was produced from Mk.I to Mk.III between 1962 and 1970.  Mk.I, Mk.II, the engine was expanded and equipped with the V8 engine (6.3 L), But the engine power was higher than the chassis perfomance and it was not a machine that could be active in the race.

After that, at Mk.III, development was proceeded with Ford's cooperation and adopted a strong chassis and double wishbone suspension that can withstand power.  Apparently, the front and rear fenders which swell greatly and the front end of the grilleless air intake of the large opening which the radiator looks in are characteristic, and production began in 1965.

The engine was equipped with a Ford FE engine with a maximum output of 425 horsepower (317 kW) with a displacement of 427 cubic inches (7.0 L) V8, the standard model, the maximum speed was 262 km / h. In the competition model, it evolved to 485 horsepower (362 kW) 290 km / h.  Approximately 300 units of Mk.III was exported to American shelby from 1965 to 1966, including the competition model.

The commercially available competition model led many voters to victory in many races even in the 1970s, boasting overwhelming performance.  Competition model which had 31 units was detuned for general public roads and was fitted with street front windshield and it is called S / C (semi-competition).  These are famous as the world's rarest car.
