DESCRIPTION

Friedrich Ancillon (1766-1837) was a Prussian historian and statesman.

His Tableau des Revolutions du Systeme Politique de L'Europe, first published in 1803 gained him considerable renown and entry into the Academy of Berlin. It was one of the earliest studies to recognise psychological factors in historical movements, and it brought him to the notice of the court, where he was appointed tutor to the royal princes.

These volumes are in French.

CONDITION

In the original half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. There is some wear to the extremities including fading and marks to the leather and cracking to the spines. The spine of the fourth volume is loose but still attached. There is a small nameplate on the front pastedown of each volume that reads, Frances Henrietta Campion. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd scattered spot and handling mark.
