DESCRIPTION

The second edition of this work, published in the same year as the first.

The work of Edward Percy Stebbing, a pioneering English forester and forest entomologist in India, who was among the first to warn of desertification and desiccation, and wrote on 'the encroaching Sahara'. From 1900 to 1910 he worked as Forest Entomologist and Zoologist for the Indian Forest Service.

Illustrated throughout with full plate and vignette illustrations and contemporary photographs, many of which are from the author himself, and often depicting the animals encountered by the Stebbing in India.

With the former owner's stamp of Brian Ashley, Bristol, to the front free endpaper.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail. Former owner's stamp to front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound. Generally bright and clean, with a few patches of spotting throughout. Several pages uncut to fore edge.
