DESCRIPTION

Covering from the source of the Thames above Oxford, down from Gravesend to the Nore. A descriptive, historical and pictorial presentation of the majestic River Thames.

With contributors including W. Senior, D. Maccoll, Professor Bonney, Godfrey Wordsworth Turner, J. Runciman and Edmund Ollier. 

Bound in the original decorative cloth, with gilt detail to the board and spine. 

Illustrated with two plates, a frontispiece engraving and a map opposing page one, as well as lavish vignette engravings throughout the text.

A first edition of this uncommon work, bound in brilliant decorative cloth.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with some bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine slightly discolouring the cloth; boards have sprung a little. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
