First American edition, first printing of the existential classic The Plague by Albert Camus. Beautiful hardbound copy of this existential classic with debossed black cloth boards, bright gold lettering on spine, no owner’s name, not ex-library, factory maroon-stained page tops, deckled fore-edges. Pages are creamy white and unblemished. Very slightest browning inside front cover, probably from a bookmark. Tiny white marks on back cover near bottom. Dust jacket, now Mylar protected, still bright but slightly chipped at spine top and bottom, horizontal wrinkles at very bottom of front, closed tear on front spine at bottom (unnoticeable), surface paper loss on back and some browning top edge, but inside front and back panels clean and with unclipped price of $3.00 net.
See photos. Greatly enlarged dust particles are almost invisible to naked eye.
