DESCRIPTION

A volume concerning ancient Greek orators and sophists, translated to the French by 'a member of the university.' The first and only edition, being a collection of harangues, funeral orations, criminal and civil arguments, and essays by some of Greece's most eminent philosophers, sophists, and speakers, including Prodicus, Pericles, Antiphon, Andocide, Isocrate, Lysias, Osee, Lycurgue, et al. 

Illustrated with a folding plate. 


CONDITION

In a quarter morocco binding over marbles boards with four raised bands. Externally sound with some shelf wear and edge wear, with some minor chipping to the tail of the spine and extremities, and a minor loss to the head of the spine. With minor damage to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. With minor soiling tot he leaves, a touch of age toning, as usual, and a minor light foxing throughout. Illustrated with a folding plate.
