At the turn of the century many cities adopted an animal and had favorite and well-known artists decorate them - for charity. There were painted elephants, cows, and Tampa, naturally, elected a giant turtle as their spirit animal. This paperback chronicles the way the turtles were painted by the artists who undertook the challenge, including some big names like Peter Max, Michael Volbracht, Josette Urso and many more and shows how the project came to fruition.
Very interesting, and not just for Bay Area art lovers!
