The Benrinnes distillery is located high on Ben Rinnes Mountain. Originally the supplies for the distillery were taken up the mountain by horse and cart. The majority of whisky made at Benrinnes is used for blended whisky however some single malts are available. This is an example of one of these which has been bottled by independent bottler Douglas Laing. It is a non-chill filtered single cask bottle, charged from one refill butt.
TASTING NOTES
Colour
Nose: Opens sugary, with burnt citric zest, warming to dunnage and cereal grist hues.
Palate: Simultaneously sweet and salted, then heavy with spices and juicy barley tones.
Finish: The spices are still to the fore, mildly warming, cough-drop style, but still sweet.
