I recently got into shooting with my SX-70 but could not find any SX-70 film in stores. Polaroid used to sell neutral density sheets you could place over Polaroid 600 film to make them work with the SX-70. Unfortunately, they do not sell it anymore.
After some trial and error, I have made my own version of this filter. I use high-quality Lee branded .6ND Neutral Density Filters. I personally use these filters daily in my SX-70 alongside 600 film with no issues.
I figured I can’t be the only person who has an SX-70 and wished there was a pre-made filter option. Therefore, I am selling some hand-cut filters to help my fellow SX-70 shooters!
The filter is very easy to install. All you need to do is place the filter on top of your film cartridge, tuck in two opposite sides, and tape down the remaining. It’s as simple as that! The filters are detachable and reusable.
Some filters may have surface level scratches – this is expected with Lee ND filters and does not impact the photo.
The last photo in the listing is of the filter in action. I selected a few shots showing different lighting scenarios, such as cloudy day (top left), bright sunny (top right), challenging lighting (lower left), and indoor on cloudy day (lower right). The exposure wheel was in its default position. For very bright days, I would recommend still turning the exposure knob a bit to the dark (as you normally would with SX-70 film). Please ignore the glare on the photos, as they aren't there on the Polaroids themselves.
For domestic USA purchases - I offer two shipping options:
(Domestic) Free shipping - I ship these out in craft letter envelopes via USPS. I place a stamp of the Polaroid on the front to make the envelope easily identifiable. USPS does not offer tracking for my free shipping option.
(Domestic) USPS Ground Shipping - I have received questions about "upgraded" shipping to include tracking number. I am now offering to ship these out via USPS Ground Shipping that includes tracking. I also ship these out in craft letter envelopes with a stamp of a Polaroid in the front.
For international purchases - I use USPS forever international stamp to get it to you. I ship these out in a heavy craft letter envelope. I put a stamp of a Polaroid on the front to make the envelope easily identifiable. Please expect an extended delivery window (20+ days). USPS does not offer tracking on these envelopes.
