Premium Silicon Carbide Polishing, Tumbling, and Lapidary Abrasive Media. Condition is New. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
We offer our silicon carbide in three different package sizes: 4 lbs., 20 lbs., and 40 lbs. Our 40 lbs. package is shipped in two 20-pound boxes and the others come in a single box. Our aluminum oxide is available in 4 lb., 25 lb., and 50 lb., and 500 lb. quantities.
Our Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide abrasives have been favored by rock-hounds for polishing rocks in tumblers, and for pressure blasting in sandblast cabinets since 1939. We offer the benefit of the lowest prices by selling our abrasive grain directly to the end user.
Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an extremely hard (9.5 on MOHS scale), inert, synthetic (man-made) abrasive that is either black (97.5%) or green (99.9% pure) in color. It is widely used for pressure blasting, tumbling, polishing, wire sawing, and shaping non-metallic materials such as concrete, stone, glass, Carbide, and other hard materials. SiC is the hardest blasting media available that is also fairly tough, providing extremely fast cutting and multiple re-uses. It is commonly used for glass etching, tumbling rocks, lapping, vibratory media, Anti-Slip aggregate, as well as for pressure blasting very hard materials. Rock tumbling with silicon carbide is typically done in steps, starting with a coarser grit like 46, 54, 60, or using group graded abrasive for a reduced cost, like 60/90. We also have Aluminum Oxide grit, which can also be used, that is the least expensive. We have a number of customers that claim they use silicon carbide for the 1st stage only, as our aluminum oxide works almost the same as silicon carbide. The second step is typically done using 180, 220, or 240 grit, or group graded 120/220. The third stage is done using 400, 500, or 600 grit, followed by tumbling with 1200 and finer grits. Our abrasives are very environmentally-friendly products that are made from recycled grinding wheels, otherwise destined for the landfill.

Try our EconoblastTM
aluminum oxide It's a special blend of white, pink, and brown aluminum oxides,
as well as other abrasives that make for a more economic choice in many
applications. It performs as well as, if not better than, white aluminum oxide
in most cases.
Our Black Silicon Carbide loose abrasive grain is precisely graded for the following uses:
Pressure Blasting, Wire Saw, Rock Tumbling, Epoxy additive, anti-slip safety aggregate, wear resistant or aesthetic additive, Glass or Stone Etching, Lapping, Polishing, Lapidary, just to name a few.
Condition is New. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail, or Less Than Truckload (LTL) Carrier.
Another benefit is that by using our abrasive, you are buying a product that is considered extremely Eco-Friendly.
1-ton of Black SiC requires 6,000 to 8,000 KWhr
Green SiC is 8,000 to 10,500 KWhr
Average family in the U.S. uses about 900 KWhr per month (10,800 KWhr per year)
The SiC we produce comes from “unused” SiC grains extracted from grinding wheels otherwise destined for a landfill. To clarify "unused" – only the grains on the face of a grinding wheel are actually used. The fact is that each abrasive grain in a grinding wheel still has the same mechanical, chemical, thermal, electrical, and properties as it did before it was made into a grinding wheel. The only difference is the grains on the face of the grinding wheel are smaller.,
If you have not tried our abrasive because you think it is not as good, please try them, and help us stop the senseless act of throwing these "unused" high energy materials into landfills before they have even been used.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to your help.
