The Juan Pablo Montoya Royal Oak Offshore is probably the hottest of all the limited edition Royal Oaks Offshore's. Audemars Piguet made only 100 watches in Platinum, many of which were gobbled up by collectors immediately upon its introduction. Mr. Montoya has loyal and enthusiastic fans and you will find they bought up these watches sight unseen at retailers as soon as A.P. announced the watch was being produced. They definitely have not been disappointed by the watch or the price appreciation they have received.
Audemars decided it would be cool to make the watch from many of the same materials used in Formula 1 cars, and the watch is made mostly from Platinum Gold and carbon fiber. Case measures 42mm by 54mm by 15mm… Sapphire crystals front and back. Famous Royal Oak Offshore octagonal bezel is carbon fiber with exposed, structural hexagonal screws.
Movement is the automatic winding Audemars Piguet Caliber 2226 with 54 jewels and adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and in 5 positions. Winding rotor is 21k for increased mass which means improved winding efficiency.
Strap is unique to the Montoya model with its exposed blue stitching. Deployment clasp. The exclusive timepiece made especially for the Formula One champion is in keeping with the Royal Oak Offshore Juan Pablo Montoya collection, conveying its key qualities. The unique design draws on the world of motor racing to create a subtle blend of F1 finesse and fine watchmaking, featuring a bezel adorned with eight screws reminiscent of engine screws, a bezel comprised of carbon fiber and titanium, strap attachments in the shape of pedals, a crown akin to a gear cog and pushpieces in the form of an air extractor.
