Mismatched Flow Blue CHAPOO Ironstone Handleless Cup & Saucer Set (D)


Offering a stunning handleless mismatched flow blue cup & saucer set c. 1850.  The cup, similar to the Chusan pattern, features twelve sided panels with center scene of pagoda with large overhanging tree, border has a diaper pattern with scrolls and flowers. The saucer is produced by John Wood, often mistaken for Josiah Wedgwood (his second name coincidentally is Wedg,) in the Chapoo Flow Blue pattern, c. 1850. Pattern is twelve sided with panels and deep well featuring a central scene depicting large pagoda with flowering tree and three islands in the distance.  Rim is decorated with two alternating floral patterns.

 

Cup measures 2 ¾” high x 3 ⅞” diameter: Cup has fleabites to rim and a hairline to rim

 

Saucer measures 6” diameter x 1 ⅛” high: Saucer is free of chips, cracks or repairs

 

Both pieces have scratching to the surface and imperfections commensurate with production, please see all photos
