Austria, Medal For Special Merit Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) Original

Original vintage 35mm diameter nonferrous silvered medal with original ribbon. The ribbon does not glow in UV light. The medal may have been a commemorative issue for WW1 veterans and awarded in the 1920s.

Obverse: inscribed Für besondere verdienste (For special merits). Reverse: shows coat of arms of Lower Austria which was created in 1920—a large single-shield with five golden eagles in it and is circumscribed with landeskameradschaftsbund Niederösterreich (country comradeship association Lower Austria).

Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) is one of the nine states of Austria, located in the northeastern corner of the country. Since 1986, the capital of Lower Austria has been Sankt-:Polten. The current coat of arms has a mural crown atop the shield.

From my personal collection. The one pictured is the one you will receive.
