Description
Antique 1830 Marion MADISON Framed Handmade Sampler Needlework Embroidery
Found at a local estate auction, this wonderful framed embroidery sampler was made by Marion Madison in the year 1830. The dimensional quality of the embroidery contrasts nicely with the textured background fabric. The message under the attribution on top, says-
"Learn your manners before you grow old for learning is better than silver or gold. Silver or gold may vanish away but once you get learning twill never be lost."
Framed dimensions are 14-1/8" tall x 11" wide x 1-1/8" deep (embroidery dimensions within the frame are 8-1/4' x 11-1/4") and weight is 1 pound 8 ounces.
Secure in its frame, this embroidery is in very good condition as pictured. Please note that although I tried to avoid reflections in taking the photos, a few remain as the embroidery is under glass.
