Estate Lot of 4 Antique Chinese Lacquer Boxes w/ Carved Cinnabar & Shell Inlay. Beautiful collection of high quality lacquer export boxes dating to Republic period. Lot includes the following four boxes:
1. Beautifully detailed cinnabar carved box depicting two figures meditating in nature with carved geometric pattern in ground featuring Buddhist swastikas. Geometric pattern carved in sides of box. Box is in great condition with some wear on interior rim and rim of lid due to use, please see photos for details. Base is marked with handpainted red export mark. Measures 4.5" long and 3.75" wide.
2. Late Qing/Early Republic carved cinnabar stamp box. Beautiful carving featuring temple garden scene. Carved lotus pattern on sides. Brass hinge frame. Base is marked with handwritten red export mark. Excellent condition with only very minor wear. Measures 3.5" long.
3. Black lacquer box with Mother-of-pearl inlaid on lid and sides. Shell inlay on top of lid depicts a Chinese man practicing Tai Chi in a garden. Great condition with wear on the four corners of the box. Old handwritten export mark on base. Measures 3.5" long and 2.75" wide.
4. Beautiful Chinese lacquer oval snuff box with double-sided design featuring man praying at shrine on top side and floral design on reverse side. Red lacquer with black and gold decoration. Very good condition with wear along edges on interior. Only small hairline and chip on foot rim visible from exterior. Measures 2.75" long and 1.25" deep.
