Offered for purchase is a lovely Tonala pottery quail figure from Mexico. I picked this up while traveling through southern New Mexico a few years ago. The back of the quail features a hand painted white deer (photo). The base is stamped Mexico (photo 5).
Approx. Dimensions: just over 5 inches tall from base to the top of the head; 4.5 inches in length (measuring between the beak and tail); and 3 inches wide.
Condition: Good. There are no major chips, cracks, or repairs. The bottom of the feet show wear consistent with age (photo 5). These pieces of pottery have very rustic designs, there are a few spots that appear to be lightly scratched or where the paint has worn (photos 5-9). It's hard to tell if this is cosmetic damage or simply the style of the artist. Please inspect all photos - they are part of the description
