Used copy of Sonic Riders for Sony PlayStation 2 / PS2, released in 2006 and published by SEGA. Futuristic hoverboard racing with Sonic characters. Later spawned multiple sequels for a spin-off series. Gameplay has an extreme sports-like feel and runs at a fast pace. Hoverboards rely on air, which can be replenished by performing tricks or abilities specific to certain character types, such as grinding rails, destroying environmental obstacles or flying off ramps. Ride wind turbulence left behind by leading players to catch up to rivals (an evolution of drafting mechanics seen in other racing games). Collect and experiment with an assortment of Extreme Gear (hoverboards, skates and bikes), some with unconventional properties such as using rings instead of air or granting high boost power. Underrated game!
