An interesting , scarce and detailed , early 18th century antique road strip map, showing part of the route from London to Barnstaple via Andover, Warminster, Maiden Bradley, Bruton and Bridgwater.

This atlas was never re-published and therefore quite scarce.


The map depicts a route in the form of 6 vertical strips with a compass rose showing orientation; additionally, miles, furlongs, towns, villages churches, windmills, rivers and hills are depicted.

Based on the earlier survey of the roads by John Ogilby and bearing a dedication to George Doddington Esq. 



With light overall age toning otherwise unmarked, a crisp, dark impression which would frame well
