Original, unique, one-of-a-kind hand-lettered sign on paper. One of numerous signs, banners and lettering piece rescued from a local auction.
Work was done by a local sign painter by the name of William Hahn. This piece has the name and date in lower right hand corner in pencil: "HAHN 3/5/57".
Don't know any history of the work, but it is very interesting and well done. The lettering in the sign says: "STOP AT THE RIDGEVILLE HOTEL -- REAL FOOD, GOOD BEER."
All the lettering is done in black, with the outside border in dark red. Sign size is 12" x 12" square, turned on edge to appear as diamond shape. The paper it is lettered onto measures 18" x 23 1/2".
The paper has yellowed with age, and has deep, darkened bend in center where work has been folded for many years. There are several small tears in the paper in this center, folded area, and they have been repaired from the back-side with small pieces of clear tape. All these are short, with none over 1 - 1/2" long. There is a 1 1/2" tear at bottom edge to left of black drawing of the pole. It also has been repaired from behind with a piece of clear tape.
Wonderful vintage piece, done by obviously very talented person.
I'll fold the paper in the center -- same place it has been folded for years, and place inside of clear plastic sleeve. Will then secure sign between piece of white foam board and chipboard for mailing by USPS First Class in a large bubble envelope.
I'll mail the same day, or next day after PayPal payment is received.
